Meals On Wheels Community Services South Africa (MOWCS) has been a cornerstone of community care since its establishment in 1964. Originally focused on supporting the elderly, the NPO has grown to address broader needs, including providing food to the hungry and offering training and skills development.
MOWCS provides nutritious meals and food parcels, positively impacting the communities it serves by improving health and breaking the cycle of poverty. Here’s how it reaches the needs of its community:
MOWCS offers various programmes to support communities, including training and skills development, home help services, social activities, arts and crafts, life skills, income generation, medical services, healthy living initiatives, caregiver programmes, and transport services for the elderly.
“The Sibona Ilanga Trust has helped us touch the lives of more people in the Emthanjeni area, giving them hope, which we are very grateful for,” says Thomas Christevo, CEO of Meals on Wheels.
