Improving Health Care Through Herbal Remedies

Khoe Cure (Pty) Ltd is an indigenous herbal medicine company based in De Aar, Northern Cape. Founded with a mission to preserve the traditional knowledge of indigenous herbs used by the Khoe people, the company also integrates the modern medicinal benefits of cannabis into its products.

Reginald Fortuin, the owner of Khoe Cure, is a registered herbal health practitioner and professional garden designer. With over 26 years of experience, he has been producing a diverse range of 100% natural herbal remedies and cannabis-infused products, all rooted in sustainable practices. The product line includes herbal oils, ointments, hair care products, and skincare products, all of which have been tested and approved by the SABS laboratory.

The demand for natural and cannabis-based herbal products in De Aar has grown significantly, as more people turn to herbal medicine as an alternative to conventional Western treatments. However, the absence of a dedicated retail space has limited Khoe Cure’s ability to reach a wider audience.

Many have already benefited from these products, particularly those managing chronic lifestyle illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, epilepsy, stress, hypertension, flu, sinus infections, insect bites, skin conditions, and arthritis. Khoe Cure also offers educational workshops where participants can engage in “herb tasting” and consult with a specialist.

The support of the Sibona Ilanga Trust, through its 2023/2024 grant call, has enabled Khoe Cure to employ five people. It has also helped the company enhance product promotion by improving infrastructure (such as display shelves), upgrading packaging, and sourcing raw materials locally. This support has made it possible for consumers to receive discounts or, for those in need, access medicine at no cost.
