Radio Ulwazi 88.9, based in the Old Clinic Nonzwakazi in De Aar, was founded on 20 November 2005 with the aim of educating and training the community in the radio and media sector, while also raising awareness about health and educational opportunities. The station serves as a vital resource, informing the public about internships, bursaries, and traineeships offered by various government departments, private entities, and in-house programmes.
The Sibona Ilanga Trust has been instrumental in supporting Radio Ulwazi by providing funding for a vehicle. This vehicle has allowed the station to expand its operations, enabling staff to conduct outdoor broadcasts, engage in community development projects, and reach out to remote areas. It has been especially valuable for promoting environmental and health-related initiatives, enhancing the station’s ability to inform, educate, and entertain its listeners.
