Sibona Ilanga Trust Community Support

The Sibona Ilanga Trust, which was formed as a Community Trust with the main purpose of carrying on public benefit activities within a 50 kilometre radius of De Aar Solar Power, approved its first grant allocation in 2016 and has already spent a grant amount of R350 000, within the communities of De Aar and its surrounds.

To-date nineteen organisations are registered on the Trust’s database, three of which have already received funding.

It is encouraging to know that the Sibona Ilanga Trust is counted as one of the five delivering Trusts in South Africa, an announcement that was shared by the SAWEA, South African Wind Association.

Ingomso youth Organisation

Sibona Ilanga Trust support Ingomso Youth Organization with its ‘June 16 Events’. The youth organisation worked alongside three organizations and engaged nearby towns (Hannover and Britstown) in their planning and implementation.

Ethembeni Community Centre – The Girl Child Programme

Ethembeni continues to successfully recruit and empower young girls in the communities to be equipped with skills to confront challenging situations of potential abuse in the communities.

GIG (God is Good)

GIG Centre depends on donations from businesses and churches in De Aar. The programme aims to build or rent a proper infrastructure, which will allow it to provide care to children living on the street.

The organisation is starting an educational programme and community visits to help the integration of the children back into their families, alternatively ongoing support to those whose who aren’t able to return home.
