Focus areas
We support registered community based and/or non-governmental organisations that are registered as public benefit organisations, with SARS (South African Revenue Services). Organisations need to benefit communities within the 50km of De Aar, Hanover and Britstown. These organisations are generally engaged in land reform, enterprise development, energy, education and healthcare...
The Trustees have identified the following key focus areas which are in alignment with Trust Deed activities.
After several community engagements and research, four focus areas have been identified:
- Food: Community-based nutrition initiatives that support vulnerable people including children in day care centres and primary schools, and elderly people.
- Education and Life Skills: High school tutoring, Life Skills development, Mentoring and Tertiary Education and skills development initiatives that support young people to break out of the inter-generational cycle of poverty, with a particular focus on peer support and social re-investment by beneficiaries. These initiatives will especially focus on “game changers” (i.e. individuals in communities who demonstrate natural leadership talent).
- Market and Enterprise Development: Conditional cash transfers or vouchers for food or services, linked to enterprise development support with a particular focus on Hanover and Britstown (potentially linked to supply chains for nutrition initiatives that are supported).
- Tertiary education and skills development support for young people including possible bursaries, internships, etc.
Over and above this, the Trustees will also consider projects and programmes that fall within the following areas:
- Welfare and Humanitarian
- Healthcare
- Education and Development
- Agriculture (with a focus on emerging farmers)
- Enterprise Development (including tourism)
